Fiona Bruce, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Congleton, says
"One of my key concerns is to support the already vibrant voluntary work in the constituency and a Conservative Government would look to implement the following proposals so that our community groups can be even more effective in achieving their aims:-
A Conservative Government would support and encourage more volunteering - for example enabling smaller charities to win a fair share of Government funding by setting up a "one stop shop" for applications to significant grants, advertising Government grant schemes on a single, simple website.
We will reduce the administrative bureaucracy suffered by charities and voluntary groups - for example by reducing the amount of paperwork associated with claiming tax relief through Gift Aid.
A Conservative Government we would review the Criminal Records Bureau to help reduce both the time and costs
incurred by community groups in engaging volunteers and to make it easier for members of the public to get involved in
local community projects.
A Conservative Government will stop the high jacking of lottery funds for Ministers' pet projects, ensuring that the National Lottery funds worthy causes which might otherwise struggle to attract money We will designate a voluntary action lottery fund devoted to voluntary and community organisations, with no diversion of its funds for public sector projects Fiona Bruce concludes "I am excited to have the opportunity, if elected as your Member of Parliament, to help local community groups take up the opportunities these proposals will create"
