Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Fiona Bruce says
"No To Car Parking Charges In Congleton"
Fiona Bruce has consistently opposed plans to charge for parking.
"As someone who has run a business here in Cheshire for 20 years and believes strongly in supporting local community life I know the importance of free and convenient parking." - Fiona
Fiona clearly placed her views against car parking charges on public record at her Selection Meeting in Congleton Town Hall last November; she has signed a Petition Letter opposing charging from the "No2Parking Charges" campaign, has met local businesses and residents to hear their concerns and confirm her support, and most recently Fiona has met and spoken personally with all Cheshire East Council Cabinet Members and the Leader of Cheshire East Council. She said that, whilst she was pleased that flexibility had been shown elsewhere, she asked them to think again about the latest proposals to charge for parking in Congleton itself.
"These ill advised proposals to introduce charging for parking should be abandoned. At this time of economic challenge we should all be fighting together to support and strengthen our local economy and community life. I am determined continue to do this - both as a Candidate and, I hope, as your next MP." - Fiona
Fiona Bruce brought Conservative Shadow Minister James Paice MP to the Congleton Constituency in support of the "Think Local...Buy Local" campaign.
"/ invited James Paice MP because it is important that the man who could well be Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in just a few weeks time hears directly from our local farmers and retailers of the challenges they face in making their businesses work so that he can take swift and early action following a change of Government." - Fiona
Fiona supports local shops and says "Locally owned and run businesses are an important part of our community life and local economy and buying from them helps lower our Carbon Footprint as it reduces packaging, waste, and transportation-miles, and its great for food freshness tool"
